Welcome to World Languages at South Pointe High School

The World Languages Department at South Pointe High School is dedicated to preparing students to become global citizens through the study of language and culture.

Our courses promote communication, comprehension, and cultural awareness — helping students read, write, listen, and speak in another language while exploring the traditions and perspectives of diverse communities.

Seal of Biliteracy

Overview

The Seal of Biliteracy recognizes high school students who demonstrate proficiency in English and at least one other language by graduation.

This recognition highlights the value of bilingualism and prepares students to compete and contribute in a global community.

Eligibility

To qualify for the Seal of Biliteracy, students must demonstrate proficiency in both English and another language through state-approved assessments.

The program is open to Juniors and Seniors who have achieved advanced levels of language proficiency.

Eligible students can earn the seal on their high school diploma and transcript, recognizing their commitment to global communication and cultural understanding.

Important reminders:

Only students (not parents) should complete the application.
Applications are open to Juniors and Seniors.
After submission, students will receive confirmation from the district’s World Languages Office.
